EROCIPS

The EROCIPS project aims to provide an opportune answer to accidents of oil, chemical and inert pollution of coastal areas. Its aim is to formulate a transferable methodology to supply relevant information to the stakeholders and the decision-makers committed to fighting coastal pollution after an accident. To achieve this objective, it is organising eight workshops whose actions can be summed up as follows: 1) Imagine worst-case pollution scenarios and analyse the necessary actions, the natural and built-up environment and the meteorological processes; 2) Develop various strategies for protection and cleaning; 3) Take stock of the human and material resources available in the event of an intervention; 4) Organise staff training for local authorities, government representatives, industry managers and volunteers; 5) Model the likely grounding zones and the trajectories of the pollution; 6) Provide information to the various participants; 7) Environmental monitoring to restore the initial coastal situation after pollution; 8) Dissemination of the project results.
